London Film & Comic Con – 19th/20th July

The UKCM attended the London Film & Comic Con (LFCC) at Earls Court. Several Alien series guests were there including John Hurt (Kane in Alien) and Carrie Henn (Newt in Aliens).

The UKCM attended London MCM Expo at the ExCel Centre. The Marines, Preds and Aliens were out in force on the 24-25th May 2008.

This event had a heavy Anime focus but was large and busy. Much fun was had, and many photos were taken.

AvP:R Opening – Taunton Odeon, Somerset – 18th January 2008

To mark the UK nationwide release of Aliens versus Predator: Requiem, members of the United Kingdom Colonial Marines were in costume at the Odeon cinema in Taunton on Friday 18th.

From 7:30pm till 9pm, visitors to the Odeon Taunton were be able to get up close and personal with two of Science Fiction’s all time stars, the Alien and the Predator. For those of a nervous disposition, one of our highly trained Colonial Marines was on hand to make sure these aliens didn’t misbehave!

The UKCM also took this opportunity to raise funds for the NSPCC.

MCM Expo – Telford – February 2006

I wasn’t expecting much from this event. It is mainly animé focused, and it was the first time that the event was held. It was small, but it was packed! The Alien surpassed himself for photo-whoring, and the Alien and Predator worked really well together. Big thanks to Rich (Percy the Pred), for not stabbing me!

We did loads of the normal photo-whoring. Additionally, we helped out with crowd control and then I had a DDR duel with Paul (High-quality Quicktime version)! In the Indian restaurant that night, I discovered that I had a mini-MEEEEEEEE: Gareth the Retarded Alien Baby!

F.A.C.T.S – Ghent, Belgium – October 2006

On the weekend of 14th October 2006, the Alien went on a UKCM trip to Ghent in Belgium for the “FACTS” convention. The UKCM Aliens stole the show! We got a huge amount of attention, as always and we had thousands of photos taken of us. We all met loads of celebrities, including Lance Henrikson, Michael Ironside, Anthony Daniels and cast-members from “‘Allo ‘Allo!”.

On the ferry home, Abe the Alien escaped! He stalked around the decks and was invited up onto the bridge.

Aliens Screening – Somerset House, London – August 2006

There was a outdoor showing of “Aliens” and “Starship Troopers” at Somerset House in London. Abe the Alien and a couple of Marines attended in costume. We got an incredible reception: when we arrived in the courtyard there was a huge cheer and applause! On route to Somerset House, we stopped at Buckingham Palace to pose for some photos. Of course, we were mobbed by tourists wanting to pose with us!
